Mosimane hails history-maker Tau after Champions League triumph
Pitso Mosimane has heaped praise on Percy Tau after the Bafana Bafana star made history in the CAF Champions League triumph with Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Tau’s Ahly defeated defending champions Wydad Casablanca 3-2 on aggregate in the final to clinch the title. It was Ahly’s record 11th Champions League title.
In the process, Tau became the first South African player to win the tournament twice. He clinched his first title with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

And his coach at Sundowns when he won his maiden Champions League title, Mosimane, could not hide his excitement and pride after watching Tau make history.
Mosimane himself has three Champions League titles to his name. The ex-Bafana coach clinched it once with Sundowns and twice with the African club of the century.
“Patriotic Lion of Judah wearing the respectable South African flag. That Flag is very notorious with winning major trophies in different countries and continents,” reacted Mosimane on social media.
“Thanks God injuries gave you a break to show your talent. My player of the tournament and a Champion of Africa.”
Tau has been one of the key players for Ahly in the Champions League this season, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 12 matches.
The Bafana star was involved in more goals than any other player in the competition with ten goal contributions, making him a top candidate for player of the tournament.
Tau has endeared himself to the Red Devils faithful after a tough start to his career at the club which saw him struggle to make an impact due to injuries.

And Mosimane’s departure last year was excepted to signal the beginning of the end for he Lion of Judah in Egypt. But it was only the beginning of his rise to stardom.
He has since overcome his struggles with injuries and emerged as one of the best performers and coach Macel Koller’s most trusted soldiers.
