Super League: Sundowns Ladies back in pole position

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies returned to the summit of the Hollywoodbets Super League after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ma-Indies Ladies at the Noordelikes Rugby Stadium in Polokwane at the weekend.

Sundowns Ladies came into this weekend with a game in hand, having played a game last week, on Wednesday, 07 June, against First Touch Academy.

Their 8-1 thrashing against First Touch during the week, put them in the pole position in the log standing. They are four points clear ahead of UWC Ladies.

SUNDOWNS RETAIN THEIR PLACE IN FIRST PLACE WITH A GAME IN HAND

While most teams in the league came into this weekend having only played 16 games.

Sundowns came into this weekend having played 17 games in the league. Their next mission coming into this weekend was against Ma-indies.

Coming into this game, Ma-indies found themselves in the most unfavourable position on the log standing, in 16th place.

And all they needed from this game was three points to escape the trenches and improve their position in the league.

However, the results went the other way, as Andiswe Mgcoyi won her side the game, in a 1-0 victory.

Both sides finished the weekend on opposites side of the table, with Ma-indies on six points, and Sundowns on 47 points.

THE REST OF THE SUPER LEAGUE RESULTS

AmaTuks Ladies walked away with three points away from TS Galaxy, in a 2-1 victory, at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, in Mpumalanga.

JVW Girls and Richmond United played to a 1-1 stalemate at the UJ Soweto Campus Stadium in Johannesburg. And UJ won 5-3 against Coal City Wizards, at the Puma Stadium, in Witbank.
