Ex-PSL striker outlines key elements that make Nabi fit for Chiefs job

Former Orlando Pirates striker Bernard Morrison has revealed the key element that makes Young Africans coach Nasreddine Nabi fit for the Kaizer Chiefs job.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been linked with the Kaizer Chiefs head coach job, currently occupied by the out of favour Arthur Zwane.

The Tunisian, Nasreddine Nabi has been at the helm of the Young Africans since April 2021.

He recently helped Yanga win the Tanzanian league title while also guiding them to the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Nabi won six trophies in two seasons with Yanga. He capped the 2022/23 campaign in style after winning the Coach of the Season award, on top of a treble.

The treble includes the league title, Community Shield and the Federation Cup.

They lost to USM Alger over two legs but Nasreddine Nabi’s technical acumen prompted Kaizer Chiefs to target his signature.

The Soweto giants are flirting with the idea of luring Nabi to the DStv Premierahip.

With his contract set to expire at the end of July, Kaizer Chiefs are hoping to lure him away from Yanga.

And Bernard Morrison who spent some time in the PSL believes the Yanga experience oiled coach Nasreddine Nabi for any high pressure job.

“He knows that for these big clubs, just one draw, one lose you are gone. So he knows the pressure that comes with it,” Morrison told FARPost.

“Now that he has been here for almost two years. I think going to clubs or any other big club in South Africa.

“He knows the pressure that he has to deliver, if not they will replace him. So he must be ready for whatever that comes his way.

Kaizer Chiefs will hope to convince Nasreddine Nabi to join them ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Last season was undoubtedly nightmarish as they blew hot and cold from start to end, failing to keep up with their rivals.

Despite a huge investment in Zwane, the club endured a shameful campaign. Amakhosi ended the season on fifth position in the DStv Premiership.

Their trophy drought continues having last won a league title then under Stuart Baxter during the 2014/15 season.

They gave chances to the likes of Steve Komphela, Giovanni Solinas, Ernst Middendorp.

Gavin Hunt and Baxter followed in that order but they all failed to end the trophy drought.
