Katsande picks the one Zim star Chiefs must sign
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has identified the one Zimbabwean star his former paymasters must sign.
Willard Katsande left Kaizer Chiefs in July 2021 after spending over a decade at the Soweto giants.
During his stay at the club, Katsande rose to be one of the known hard-tackling midfielders in the DStv Premiership. He clinched two league titles at Amakhosi while making over 300 appearances with 18 goals and nine goals to his name.
Katsande did so well in the same role that former Zimbabwean star, Tinashe Nengomasha excelled to be one of the best midfielders to grace Kaizer Chiefs.
WHO KAIZER CHIEFS MUST SIGN
The former Sekhukhune United star, Katsande has picked Zimbabwean, Tatenda Tavengwa as the rightful person to fill in what is believed to be a Zimbabwean role.
Tavengwa did well in his debut season at Venda Academy in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The former CAPS United workhorse midfielder was a vital cog as Venda Academy ended the season in 11th position.
Intrestingly, Amakhosi are part of the teams looking to sign him having shone for Venda Academy in the Nedbank Cup.
The other teams include Swallows FC, Chippa United, and Sekhukhune United. As it stands, no club has tabled an offer for his services despite enquiries.
However Katsande heaped praise his former team, Amakhosi for considering the Zimbabwean star in their plans.
“Obviously I’m happy for Tavengwa. It’s not easy to be recognised by a team like Kaizer Chiefs,” Katsande told H-Metro.
“That role has been reserved for Zimbabweans at Kaizer Chiefs. And I’m not sure how close is the deal, but I would urge him to do more than what we did with Nengomasha.
“He should not be limited because once the deal materialises, he has us to get all the information he wants to survive. I wouldn’t want to instruct him to play the way we layed at Chiefs.
“He has to bring a new dimension to the table. Chances are high that he will succeed at Amakhosi because he has us to bank on.”
