Lebogang Phiri on the move

South African midfielder Lebogang Phiri has provided an update on his future ahead of the new season

The 28-year-old midfield maestro spent the previous campaign with French Ligue 2 side Paris FC. He joined the club in July last year from his parent club Caykur Rizespor FC.

Lebogang Phiri featured in 19 matches across all competitions for Paris FC, helping them finish in 7th position on the log standings.

Meanwhile, Rizespor FC will be back in the Turkish top-flight next season after gaining promotion. This is after they finished second in the second-tier table.

PHIRI TO RETURN TO PARENT TURKISH CLUB

Phiri is set to return back to his Rizespor side as his loan spell is coming to an end on June 30, 2023. The Bafana Bafana midfielder has thus far bid farewell to his Paris teammates following a one-season stay at the French club.

“From my teammates to the kit men, the technical staff, the President and his panel, and last but not least the supporters who came in numbers to cheers us on.

“I’d like to pass my best regards to all of you. Your glory days are coming. Keep on keeping on. Thank you all till we meet again. Stay safe and blessed,” he added.

As probable, Phiri will be re-united with his Turkey side and try to fight his way into the starting line-up as he is set for top-flight football in the 2023\24 season.
