PSL side plotting Grant Margeman swoop
A DStv Premiership side is plotting to prize Grant Margeman away from Mamelodi Sundowns after a stellar loan spell with SuperSport United.
The talented midfielder was impressive in Matsatsantsa colours last season and the Pretoria side would certainly want to keep him.
The former Ajax Cape Town captain made 26 appearances in the league for SuperSport. He scored two goals while contributing three assists.
He won a handful of Man-of-the-Match performances at Matsatsantsa under the guidance of Gavin Hunt.
Subsequently, he was named the Player’s Player of the Season at the club’s end of the season award ceremony.
SuperSport finished third on the league table in the just-ended season and qualified for the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.
Venturing into the Africa Safari means they would need to keep the 25-year-old midfielder.
Margeman still has a contract with Mamelodi Sundowns who have called him for pre-season. The South African champions will assess him and decide on his future thereafter.
However, FARPost has it on good authority that he has caught the interest of another PSL club.
GRANT MARGEMAN ATTRACTS INTEREST FROM THE PSL SIDE
“Yes, Stellenbosch FC is looking to beef up their squad for the upcoming season. They have enquired about him,” a source close to the club told FARPost.
“So, Grant Margeman is being looked at as a player who can join the team and improve it. But as you know the right channels have to be followed. Because Stellenbosch FC would like to have him on a permanent deal.”
Stellies believe the fact that he hails from Cape Town where he previously played for Ajax makes it appealing to him.
“So now we’ll see if the player agrees to come down to Stellenbosch because you know it’s every player’s dream to play for Gauteng teams,” added the source.
With the midfield maestro returning to Masandawana for pre-season, it remains to be seen whether he will stay with the club or get a permanent move elsewhere.
