R22 million on offer for Fiston Mayele

Tanzania champions Young Africans; Yanga may find it difficult to resist a R22 million offer for their top striker Fiston Mayele.

Mayele has been in terrific form in the last two seasons, being crowned Most Valuable Player at the Tanzania Football Federation awards on Monday.

The Congolese forward also walked away with the top goal scorer award after notching 17 goals in the league. His tally for the last two seasons is 54, turning him into a man on demand.

LISTENING TO FISTON MAYELE OFFERS

The DRC international still has another year on his contract with Young Africans, but the club is open to listen to offers.

Yanga president Hersi Ally Said has shed light on the future of his top marksman.

“We’ve not received any enquiries from South Africa, not a single club has contacted us,” Engineer Hersi told FARPost.

There have been numerous reports linking the 28-year-old forward with a switch to the DStv Premiership.

Mayele’s agent recently told FARPost that the only South African club to register interest was Mamelodi Sundowns. However, that was never followed up.

The Yanga boss further said among numerous enquiries for the striker, there were only two serious ones.
“At the moment, we have two solid offers on the table from Saudi Arabia and from North Africa.”

Although he could not be drawn into disclosing the clubs, FARPost has it on good authority that

Sepahan FC of Iran, Sudan’s Al Hilal and the UAE’s Hatta Club are some of the teams interested.
The most enticing offer is R22.2 million while the other is R13 million.

HE HAS BEEN EXCEPTIONAL

“He has been exceptional for us and we’re at a place where we are happy to let him go if the offer is right,” he explained.

“We definitely won’t stand in his way should we get the right offer for both the club and the player.
“Fiston is away at the moment on national duty. Once he’s done, we’ll sit down with him and present the offers we have.

“We would love to hear where his headspace is before we accept any offer,
At the end of last season, the club was able to resist any advances for the striker. The agreement was that he would stay and play in the CAF Champions League.

Mayele was instrumental on the continent, scoring 14 goals in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

Yanga went as far as the CAF Confed final, playing a 2-2 draw with Algeria’s USM. They lost courtesy of the away goals rule.
