Where Xulu would like to play his football next season
Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu has expressed his wish on where he would like to play his football in the upcoming season.
Xulu spent the last season at the Azerbaijani club Turan Tovuz. The 31-year-old is now a free agent after his one-season contract at the club expired.
The defender, part of the Bafana squad to face Morocco in the CAF AFCON qualifier on Saturday, says he has enjoyed his football at the European side.
The AFCON clash is set to be played at FNB Stadium with kickoff set for 17:00, a game Xulu is expected to start.
BAFANA BAFANA DEFENDER ENJOYING HIS FOOTBALL
“I am enjoying my football in Azerbaijan and whoever is trying to keep track of my performances can also agree,” he said.
“We [Turan Tovuz] were a new team and we finished sixth. I was one of the few players who did well in the second round of the season. They mentioned four of us which is good for me.”
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs player was speaking to the media ahead of the AFCON qualifier at FNB Stadium.
“I think it’s also fairly from the performances even from Bafana Bafana because taking the International to your current team really helps. The league itself has teams that participate in the Champions League level,” he said.
WHERE WOULD SIYANDA XULU WANT TO PLAY NEXT SEASON?
“It’s going to be interesting going there [Azerbaijan], if I do go there next season. Which is something that I think I would like because the league is very competitive.
“It has done such a positive result for me as a player because I was able to do well for Bafana because of the league that I was playing in.”
After playing for nine seasons in the South African Premier Soccer League, Xulu has also given his comparison of the local league and that of Azerbaijan.
“I think Azerbaijan is a bit competitive because they have players from all over the world and they play in the Champions League. So it’s very competitive compared to back here,” he said.
