Ex-Pirates star reveals why Yanga is bigger than Chiefs
As coach Nasreddine Nabi is being linked with Kaizer Chiefs, ex-PSL star Bernard Morrison has made a sensational comparison between Amakhosi and Young Africans SC.
Despite their struggles, Kaizer Chiefs remain one of the most followed DStv Premiership teams.
However, Ghanaian striker Bernard Morrison is of the view that Young Africans; Yanga command a better following than that of Chiefs.
Morrison spent two years in South Africa at Orlando Pirates before he was released in July 2018.
He spent a year in the Democratic Republic of Congo and later surfaced at Young Africans SC in January 2020.
WHAT BERNARD MORRISON OBSERVED
Since 2020, the ex-PSL star Bernard Morrison has made comparisons of which he made a sensational observation.
The 30-year-old who is also a former PSL star opines that Yanga SC have a bigger following than that of Kaizer Chiefs.
“The numbers the club [Young Africans SC] has is more than Kaizer Chiefs. Going to Kaizer Chiefs comes with its own pressure,” Morrison told FARPost.
“But as a player, you have to deliver. Playing for big clubs means you have to be ready for everything.
“If you are moving from Young Africans and going to South Africa to play for Kaizer Chiefs, you just have to be ready. For me I think the pressure is here almost similar to that of Chiefs.
“Even when Kaizer Chiefs go for away games, they don’t get this massive crowd. But here you get huge numbers everytime you go for a match. You have to be ready.”
The ex-PSL star Bernard Morrison spoke to FARPost on the sidelines of Yanga’s triumph over Azam FC in the Federation Cup on Monday.
In terms of achievements Young Africans SC accounted for 29 Tanzania Premier League titles. The team was founded in 1935.
They have also won a significant number of domestic cups plus five CECAFA Club Championship.
Under coach Nasreddine Nabi, they plausibly won six trophies in two seasons.
They bagged 2022/23 league title as they also completed a treble which includes the Community Shield and the Federation Cup.
They sadly missed out on the CAF Confederations cup after losing to USM Alger in the final played over two legs.
