Yanga starlet pays tribute to Kaizer Chiefs target

A Yanga starlet Yusuph Athuman has paid tribute to a Kaizer Chiefs top priority target ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Despite a successful 2022/23 season, Young Africans [Yanga] are parting ways with invaluable assets that helped spurr the team.

They are set to part ways with their reliable goal-getter Fiston Mayele following the departure of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

The latest member to leave Yanga is goalkeeper coach, Milton Nienov. The latter is a former Polokwane City and Golden Arrows goalie coach.

Yanga starlet Yusuph Athuman [20] has penned an emotional tribute to the Kaizer Chiefs target, Nabi.

Tanzanian giants; Yanga confirmed that the Tunisian mentor has left the club on Wednesday amid massive links with Kaizer Chiefs.

“You’ve been an incredible father to me, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you and learn from you,” said Athuman.

“I’ll never forget how patient and understanding you were with me when I came to Young Africans. You made everyday worthwhile!

“Thanks for always putting a smile on my face. I’ll always appreciate the time you took to help me understand the game and life and to grow.

“What you’ve taught me will continue to have an impact on me moving forward. I’ll always miss you for sure it’s obvious that you’ve touched a lot of people.

“Thank you for your dedication and hard work and for being such an important part of the team.

“Thank you for all you have done! You will be missed by everyone here. Good luck BABA NABI.”

Nabi left Young Africans after winning six trophies in two seasons, including the Azam Federation Cup.

In addition to the massive achievement, Nabi led Young Africans to the finals of the lucrative CAF Confederation Cup.

They sadly lost to USM Alger on the away goals rule following a 2-2 draw over two legs played.

Moreso, Nabi has since attracted the attention of a number of clubs in Africa and in the Middle East.

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs are also angling to lure him after it emerged that the club’s management opened talks with Nabi.

It will also be intresting to see how Kaizer Chiefs will manoeuvre their coaching crisis. Current coach Arthur Zwane has two years remaining on his contract.
