Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau’s huge relief
Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau admits it has been a huge relief to stay injury free following a sparkling form for Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Tau has been hailed by the Egyptian media for his sensational display that helped the Red Devils win their record 11th CAF Champions League trophy.
The 29-year-old scored five goals in the competition. This included an impressive header against Wydad in the first leg of the Final in Cairo.
Tau is currently in the Bafana Bafana camp ahead of the AFCON qualifier against Morocco at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
HUGE RELIEF FOR BAFANA BAFANA STAR PERCY TAU THIS SEASON
“It’s simple, I am injury free,” said Tau when asked about his form.
“I have suffered a lot in the last few months, where I came in and I got out again and I couldn’t get momentum.
“Also, now that I have been injured free I also have got momentum. I am getting used to the team and what the coach [Marcel Koller] demands from me. As I said, the biggest [factor] is that I am not injured.
WINNING MENTALITY AT AL AHLY
Tau has also acknowledged that playing for the Africa Club of the Century has enhanced his mentality.
“I have always wanted to win every game that I play and I go to a club where we win one trophy and they say you must win the next one also. So that’s the mentality there,” he said.
“They always want to win in every game and when we don’t get the results, we really feel it.
“The fans and the club are not happy and I think it was a good relationship between me and them in terms of winning. Because I also love to win, they demand winning there and I just want to keep on that,”
The clash between Bafana and the Atlas Lions starts at 17:00.
