What the future holds for Kabelo Sibiya as Mlambo coach
Coach Kabelo Sibiya remained coy when quizzed about his contractual situation at Mlambo Royal Cubs after failing to guide the side to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League outfit had a poor run in the just-ended South African football third-tier national playoffs held in Pietermaritzburg.
Mlambo become the second team to be eliminated from the national playoffs without a point.
The side was drawn in Group C alongside Limpopo’s Mpheni Home Defenders and Orbit College of North West, who secured promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
As things stand, Sibiya awaits to discuss his future with the club’s hierarchy as the 2022/23 season has concluded.
But, it won’t be a surprise to see the well-traveled mentor stay at the Mpumalanga side given his extensive experience of the beautiful game.
Sibiya coached the likes of UMvoti, TS Sporting, Venda Football Academy, to mention a few.
KABELO SIBIYA ON HIS FUTURE AT MLAMBO ROYAL CUBS
When asked about his future at the club following Mlambo’s elimination in the playoffs, Sibiya said: “Well, this is football. If the team does not do well decision must be taken.”
“So, as a coach you will wait for the decision to be taken. If there’s progress that the management of the team has seen, then is up to them to make a decision.
“And if there’s no progress from where I got the team is also up to them. You know as a coach that when the results are not coming a decision must be taken.”
Mlambo will go back to the drawing board and plan how to achieve its ultimate goal. The goal is simple, qualify for the ABC League national playoffs again. And possibly getting promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship this time around.
