Lessons Pitso Mosimane learnt at Al Ahli Saudi

Former Al Ahli Saudi coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed the lessons he learnt in Saudi Arabia with the club during his tenure.

Mosimane had a great spell awakening the “sleeping giant” which was relegated in the 2021/22 season. He gained promotion to the Saudi Pro League by winning the second division. In addition, the SA tactician clinched the league title.

Despite his successes, the two parties ended their relationship in just eight months. According to reports, the former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach dumped Ahli due to financial issues.

WHAT PITSO MOSIMANE LEARNT IN SAUDI ARABIA

According to the three-time CAF Champions League winning coach, the lessons learnt are both personal and professional.

“Personal, South Africans can do a job in Saudi and the proof is there on the podium,” said Mosimane.

“Always break the boundaries never be afraid of the unknown. You must do what you think you can. You must never be afraid to jump.

“There are people who will say I’m not going to try things I’m going to stay where I am, I’m comfortable where I am, I’m not moving.

“There are people who move, [Jose] Mourinho will always move, Pep [Guardiola] will always move, Jürgen Klopp will always move and Thomas Tuchel will move.

“[There are] those ones who says I don’t want to open that door because it might be cold outside, then come back to the warm weather. Where we going we jump, there is a lot of turbulence, so I like cold water.”

PITSO MOSIMANE’S NEW PROJECT

Mosimane’s new project will be in UAE with Abu Dhabi-based side Al Wahda FC. The club plays in the UAE Pro League. In the just-ended 2022/23 season Al Wahda finished third on the log standings.

They lost out on the championship to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai by five points.
