A speedy ex-Maritzburg United winger has issued a come get me plea to Zimbabwean clubs as he seeks to come out of retirement, a year after his dance at Cape Umoya United.

The ex-Maritzburg United winger hang his  boots last year after suffering a Lisfranc fracture.

At the age of 30, Gabriel Nyoni feels he still has what it takes to make the cut into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League of Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean attacker is targeting to make a move to join former Chippa United gaffer Norman Mapeza at FC Platinum.

“Life is unpredictable. Today, you may have grand plans to become one of the best soccer players of your generation,” Nyoni told the Chronicle.

“And tomorrow, you find yourself waking up in a hospital, facing the possibility of amputation.

“Life, whether good or bad, simply happens. It reminds me of the story of Job in the Bible.

“Truthfully, I didn’t retire on my own terms, and it continues to bother me to this day,” Nyoni confides.

“I would love to retire on my own terms. My business now runs smoothly without my constant presence, so I feel I can play more freely. I believe I have two or three more years, and then I will call it a day.

“Wherever a team is willing to give me an opportunity to revive my career, that’s where I’ll go.

“Of course, my former teams like Highlanders and CAPS United hold a special place in my heart, so they are my first preferences,” added Nyoni.

Nyoni who is known for his speed and agility, rose to fame at Highlanders in Zimbabwe’s topflight.

The former Cape Umoya player left Highlanders in 2018 to join Caps United in the 2019 season.

He spent five months at the Harare club before signing for the now relegated side, Maritzburg United.

Sadly at the Team Of Choice, he was restricted to just 12 appearances in all competitions. This happened due to injuries.

He was released join Cape Umoya United in September 2020 but he did not spark having spent most of his time on the sidelines.
