Celimpilo Ngema explains why he joined AmaZulu FC

Former Marumo Gallants midfielder Celimpilo Ngema has revealed what convinced him to join AmaZulu FC after parting ways with his former club.

The 25-year-old midfielder saw his contract with Bahlabani Ba Ntwa come to an end in June. This was also after the Limpopo outfit suffered relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Melmoth-born player scooped the Player of the Season award at Gallants prior to waving goodbye.

He had already penned a pre-contract with Usuthu in January this year, as he was already within the last six months of his contract. Before then, he was strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs. However, he ended up moving to Durban.

Ngema says he opted for Usuthu because they are a big club, not “just” provincially but in the league. He feels many PSL players would share the same sentiments with him.

CELIMPILO NGEMA ON WHY HE CHOSE TO JOIN AMAZULU

“AmaZulu are a big team, not just big in KZN, but this is a big team in the PSL as a whole,” he told the journalists during the club’s media open day.

“I think any player would like to play for a big team like AmaZulu.”

Ngema isn’t yet satisfied with his showings so far and believes he can do better than what he has offered AmaZulu. He says he will need some time to adapt to life on the Durban-based side.

He also believes having his family close to him has been helpful.

“It will take some time because I’m still new and adjusting to the style of play of the team,” he continued.

“Even to understand how the players play, it will take some time, but I’m getting used bit by bit. And having my family close to me really helps. I speak to them anytime when I have a problem.”
