Kaizer Chiefs confirm yet another departure
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange who is on the verge of reuniting with Gavin Hunt.
Nange spent two seasons at Amakhosi and played a total of 31 games and scored two goals in all competitions.
But his second season at the club saw him struggle for game time under Arthur Zwane. However, the former Black Leopards midfielder is no short of offers. FARPost has gathered that Nange could be heading to SuperSport United to reunite with Hunt.
The duo worked together both at Bidvest Wits and at Kaizer Chiefs. Stellenbosch FC were reportedly one of the clubs after the services of Nange.
He had joined Chiefs from Stellies where he only spent a season under coach Steve Barker.
KAIZER CHIEFS CONFIRM PHATHUTSHEDZO NANGE DEPARTURE
“Midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange has been released by Kaizer Chiefs on the expiry of his contract. The 31-year-old signed for Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC in July 2021,” reads the Chiefs statement.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank Phathu for his contribution to Chiefs over the past two years,” added Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr.
“It is a pity that injuries prevented him from playing regularly, as I am sure his undoubted quality would have added value to the team. We wish him success in his future endeavours.”
In his first season at Chiefs Nange played 26 matches but only featured in five matches last season.
Nange is the third player to depart Naturena after the 2022/23 PSL season. He joins Erick Mathoho and Siyabonga Ngezana out the exit door. Ngezana sealed a move to Romanian giants FCSB while Eric Mathoho remains clubless.
In addition, the Soweto giants have already signed a few players ahead of the new season. Some of the club’s new arrivals include Thatayaone Ditlhokwe (SuperSport United), Given Msimango (TS Galaxy) and Mduduzi Mdantsane (Cape Town City FC).
