Nabi to Kaizer Chiefs? Mosimane gives his verdict
Newly appointed Al Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane has given his verdict on Kaizer Chiefs target Nasreddine Nabi.
Nabi has been one of the candidates earmarked to take over the coaching reins at Chiefs for the upcoming 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
The talks between the two parties have since stalled as they seek for a solution to meet Nabi’s demand.
Nabi is believed to be looking to bring his technical team before accepting Chiefs’ offer tabled for him.
The Tunisian mentor caught the eyes of Chiefs’ hierarchy after guiding Yanga of Tanzania to a treble. Meanwhile, Mosimane who was wanted by Chiefs’ fans, has shared his views on Nabi.
PITSO MOSIMANE BELIEVES NASREDDINE NABI IS A GOOD COACH
The three-time CAF Champions League winner, who was in Tanzania at the invitation of Yanga last year, described Nabi as a “good guy, a good coach”.
“He’s won double trebles, not many people have won double trebles. I think I got it twice but in different years, he got it two years in a row,” Mosimane told Metro FM.
“South African football is not Tanzanian football. Tanzanian football is Yanga, Simba, Azam and the rest – no disrespect to anybody.
“Coach Nabi knows the stress, he knows the pressure to deliver. He knows that kind of stress, so he would handle the pressure and the stress well. And he has proved that he is good, he took Yanga to the final of the CAF Confederations Cup.”
“I cannot be able to speak on the quality of players at Chiefs because I haven’t been able to watch much of their games.”
Meanwhile, Amakhosi had a season to forget during the 2022/23 season. Chiefs finished fifth on the league table and missed out on CAF interclub competitions.
They played 13 games in the league, drew five and lost 12 times in 30 matches while accumulating 44 points.
With Chiefs seemingly looking to make technical team changes, it remains to be seen if Arthur Zwane will be shown the exit door.
Furthermore, Chiefs have already secured the signing of Given Msimango, Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe and Mduduzi Mdantsane for the new campaign.
