Ntshumayelo reveals best player he’s ever played with in PSL

A day after announcing his retirement from football, Thandani Ntshumayelo has revealed the best player that he played alongside in his career.

Ntshumayelo had a colourful spell in the PSL making 144 appearances in all competitions. He played for SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Baroka FC and Swallows FC.

The midfield maestro won two league titles in his career with the SuperSport and Pirates in the 2009/10 and 2011/12 seasons respectively.

Ex-Bafana Bafana international was banned for four years after he tested positive for cocaine in 2016 and after successfully appealing, his ban was lifted in 2018. He then joined Baroka FC on a short-term deal towards the end of the 2018/19 season [three months].

Following unsuccessful Baroka stint, he joined Swallows FC on a one-year deal. However, he was released after failing to impress.

The 33-year-old was a versatile player in the midfield playing different positions. He used to play as a defending midfielder, central midfielder, on the attack as well as on the left and on the right side.

‘Bibo’ named Masibusane Zongo as the best player ever to play alongside. The duo played together during their days at Matsatsantsa.

“For me, Zongo is the best player I’ve ever seen in my life. The things he used to do since we were young,” said Ntshumayelo on Radio2000.

“I’ve seen players that talk football; then they don’t deliver. He used to talk football, the same thing he was talking about you would see in the field.

“Zongo is that player who was fit. He can showboat; also, he was a direct player. When he wants to play, no one can stand in from of him from a young age.”

Furthermore, Ntshumayelo picked Sekhukhune United midfield maestro Kamohelo Mokotjo as the best in his position.

“His play is just different, he makes basics simple, but it’s not simple to play like that.

“I’ve always liked his style of play. He doesn’t do much, but knows where he needs to be inside the field of play,” he added.
