Thidiela reveals what will happen to Leopards’ ABC Motsepe status

Black Leopards chairman Chief Thidiela has revealed what will most likely happen to their ABC Motsepe League status after returning to the Motsepe Foundation Championship

Leopards will be participating in the South African football second tier next season after purchasing the status of All Stars.

The club confirmed the news on Tuesday, 23 June at Meropa Casino in Polokwane.

The chairman went on to say that it was unfortunate that Leopards were relegated to the ABC Motsepe League after finishing last in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

WHAT IS MOST LIKELY TO HAPPEN TO BLACK LEOPARDS’ ABC Motsepe League STATUS

“For us, as I said, the turnaround strategy is obviously to focus more on development. A development partnership with an ABC status team would actually help a great deal,” said Chief Thidiela.

“We may not own it directly but we can have a relationship with it. You know, sometimes you find that players are not ready and we are able to then go keep a player there to gain match fitness, and whatever the case may be.

“So, that’s what we would want to do. Like I said, we are going to announce what our development structure is going to be like and we will take it from there.”

WHY LEOPARDS PURCHASED PSL STATUS

Thidiela went on reveal why the side decided to purchase National First Division status following their relegation to the lower division.

“The decision was taken that the club gets status in the professional ranks. The club will continue in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after purchasing a status,” he added.

“The community of Limpopo relies on Leopards as people are able to generate an income because of the club.

“We will start with the league preparation and have a pre-season ahead of the new season.”

The Vhembe side will have a new technical team which will be announced in due course.
