Details around Pule Mmodi’s switch to Kaizer Chiefs
It is understood Pule Mmodi will don the Gold and Black colours of Kaizer Chiefs next season, here are more details on his switch to the club.
Amakhosi have been chasing the services of the attacking midfielder since last year. Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu were also among the clubs that showed interest in him.
The 29-year-old has been one of the mainstays of Golden Arrows in the past three seasons. His contract with the Durban-based club will expire at the end of June.
Having completed the former Uthongathi midfielder’s signing, the Soweto giants are waiting for 1 July to unveil him along with other signings.
MMODI PREFERED CHIEFS DESPITE AMAZULU’S ‘BETTER OFFER’
Meanwhile, Usuthu pulled out all the stops to win the race for Mmodi’s signature. According to a source close to the club, they offered a salary close to R200 000, which was a better offer than the Chiefs’ one.
For Mmodi, it seems like it was not about the numbers as he elected to put pen to paper at Naturena. However, on the other hand, Chiefs had a better signing on-fee than the one of AmaZulu.
NO TO PIRATES OFFER
FARPost also understands that Mmodi rejected Pirates’ offer to join their arch-rivals Chiefs. The Buccaneers have also been in the race for some time having been impressed by his stellar 2021/22 campaign at Arrows.
Chiefs have also secured Ranga Chivaviro’s signature from Marumo Gallants. The 30-year-old attracted many’s interests last season when he was banging goals for Bahlabani Ba Ntwa.
Chivaviro will be taking a yoke to solve Amakhosi’s goal-scoring issues as they haven’t had a consistent number nine for quite some time.
The Glamour Boys will also welcome Mduduzi Mdantsane from Cape Town City, Given Msimango from TS Galaxy and Thatayoane Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United.
