Mhango’s exit from AmaZulu imminent as Hunt eyes reunion
AmaZulu FC striker Gabadinho Mhango’s exit from the club will likely see him reunite with coach Gavin Hunt at SuperSport United.
The duo are familiar with each other having previously worked together at now-defunct Bidvest Wits from 2016/17 to 2018/19 PSL seasons.
During his time with the Clever Boys, the 30-year-old Mhango played some of his best football in SA. Mhango made 67 appearances in all competitions, scored 15 goals and provided six assists in the process.
In 2016/17 campaign, he helped Wits to clinch their first-ever league title; the ABSA Premiership.
WHY GABADINHO MHANGO WILL BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR SUPERSPORT UNITED
Over the past seasons, Mhango has proved to be a consistent striker when ever given the opportunity to play on the field of play. At the Tshwane side, he can be their regular striker as the club is set to part ways with Thamsanqa Gabuza.
To add, it’s not clear whether Orlando Pirates loanee Zakhele Lepasa will return at the club ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Matsatsantsa will be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup next season after finishing third in the league last season. Therefore, they will need to bolster their squad so they have a well balanced team that is able to challenge.
The Malawi international has continental football experience following his stints with Wits and Pirates.
WHAT SUPERSPORT UNITED CHAIRMAN SAID BEFORE
SuperSport United chairman Stan Matthews once said they are going to need new signings for next season since they will be playing in the CAF. That means they will have many matches next season,
“Playing in Africa, I’m going to need two to three extra players. I can’t expect the kids to come and play in Africa.
“So three extra decent players are going to cost me R4 to R6 million.
