Sekhukhune promote two players ahead of 2023/24 PSL season
DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United have promoted two academy players ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.
Sekhukhune are moving to a different direction of promoting their home grown talent. In the just ended season, they proved to a an ambitious side.
They finished in the top eight for the first time and reached the Nedbank Cup final. However, they lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates.
The two players promoted to the first team are namely; Thabo Nkwana and Vincent Mashego. They will join the team when they go for the pre-season camp.
CLUB’S STATEMENT ON THE TWO RECRUITS
“Thabo Nkwana 23-year-old promising right winger that oozes a lot of confidence and shows determination to win a regular spot in the starting line-up,” read the statement.
“The defense is also bolstered by the acquisition of Vincent Mashego, the 23-year-old from Monsterlus in Groblersdal who started his football career with Young Aces [Mpumalanga Local Football Association] in 2013 before joining Middleburg United.
“Having started his football career with Baroka Football Club Diski Challenge Team, Nkwana born in Riba Cross, Burgersfort will add the much-needed impetus [energy] to support the striking department.”
BRANDON TRUTER ON THE PROMOTED DUO
The team’s coach Brandon Truter revealed how he intends the newly promoted duo as he doesn’t want to throw them in the deep end.
“Although those boys are hungry to don the Babima Noko jersey. We first need to patiently guide them,” Truter told the club’s media department.
“We also have to train them in order for themselves to gain confidence and belief.
CHAIRMAN’S WORDS ON THE PROMOTED PLAYERS
To add, the chairman of the club Simon Malatji believes the club is moving in the right direction. They are now promoting the academy graduates.
“These exciting youngsters feed into our vision of promoting youths as part of the team’s long-term vision which is always to give back to the community by nurturing young talent.”
