AmaZulu FC beef up coaching staff

AmaZulu FC have continued to strengthen their technical team with the addition of a second assistant coach ahead of Pablo Franco Martin’s arrival.

The Spanish mentor Martin was announced as Usuthu’s new head coach last week. He takes the reins after the club parted ways with the interim head coach Ayanda Dlamini.

The former Simba SC tactician is expected to land in South Africa before the end of this week. He’ll arrive with his first assistant coach as the club had requested him to.

Meanwhile, the club’s president Sandile Zungu has confirmed to FARPost that Siboniso Vilakazi will take up the second assistant coach role.

AMAZULU FC APPOINT SIBONISO VILAKAZI AS CLUB’S SECOND ASSISTANT COACH

“We’ll most likely have two assistants, one will come with him and one will come within the team,” Zungu told FARPost.

“And that assistant we’ve chosen that it will be ‘Nini’ [Siboniso] Vilakazi.”

Vilakazi was assisting Ayanda Dlamini last season when he took charge of Usuthu on an interim basis. Before then, he was coaching the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team.

‘Nini’ joined AmaZulu in the 2020/21 season and led their reserve side to the Diski Challenge glory in the same campaign.

‘WE WANT TO DEVELOP HIM’

“He was assistant to [Ayanda] Dlamini during his interim period,” Zungu added.

“He has been the head of our [DStv Diski Challenge side] and he won us the Diski Challenge, two seasons ago or rather three seasons ago. And we want him to develop, so, he will be assisting Cijimpi.

“And then Cijimpi will bring his assistant…we have asked him to bring his assistant. Because it’s always important that a coach brings someone that they are comfortable to be assisted by, especially a foreign coach to bring new methods of coaching that he wants to implant.

“He needs to work with the people that he knows will clearly understand his methods.”
