Chippa United sign Pirates star 

Chippa United have completed the signing of an Orlando Pirates player ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.

The Chilli Boys have acquired the services of Craig Martin from the Buccaneers on a two-year deal with an option to extend for another season.

The midfielder had joined Pirates last season from Cape Town City but struggled to get game time.

Last season, Martin played 18 games across all competitions for the Sea Robbers.

CHIPPA UNITED OFFICIAL STATEMENT 

“Chippa United Football Club proudly announces the signing of Craig Martin on a 2-year contract with option to extend an additional year,” read the club’s statement. 

“A key move to fortify our squad and magnify our distinct, energetic style of play for the upcoming season. 

“Craig Martin, a Cape Town native has left a significant imprint on South African football since his premier division debut with Cape Town City in 2017. 

“His experience is evident with over 100 appearances for Cape Town City and fruitful tenure at Orlando Pirates. Outling true passion for the beautiful game.”

Meanwhile, the club’s head coach Morgan Mammila added that Martin is a good addition to his side. He states that his extensive experience will help the Gqeberha club to reach the promised land in the new campaign.

“With Craig’s exceptional speed and adaptability as a right winger, striker and right back. We anticipate his immense contribution to our squad on this extended commitment is clear indicator of our aspirations for the new season,” said Mammila.

“The club eagerly anticipate Martin’s impact on the field of play. We are confident in his pivotal role in pursuit of our ambitious goals. This includes securing a top 8 position in the league. 

“As we approach the new season, we are invigorated and optimistic about the club’s promising future. Craig Martin and Chippa United are ready to embark on thrilling journey with loyal supporters.”
