Ellis adds ex-Chiefs scout to Banyana’s World Cup technical team
Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has added ex-Kaizer Chiefs scout Sinesipho Mali to her technical team ahead of the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup.
The women’s global elite football competition will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand later in July.
The team’s aim this time around is to improve their performances from the 2019 edition which was held in France.
They had a disastrous campaign exiting the competition in the group stages as they failed to register a single point.
DESIREE ELLIS NAMES SINESIPHO MALI TO HER WORLD CUP TECHNICAL TEAM
Ellis have roped in Sinesipho Mali who parted ways with Amakhosi in 2022 after a suspension for misconduct. The 60-year-old revealed that Mali has been assigned as a analyst alongside Mpho Maruping.
“Sinesipho Mali and former pro Mpho Maruping [appointed] as analysts because the workload was a lot for Shilene Booysen,” Ellis told Radio2000.

To add, the mentor also recalled Simphiwe Dludlu. Previously, Dludlu have been in given the mandate of coaching the women’s senior team in the 2022 COSAFA Cup.
This was when Ellis had other commitments to attend to. She almost clinched the trophy, only to lose 1-0 to Zambia in the final.
“My technical team for the World Cup is confirmed. Coach Dludlu is still with us. We also have conditioning Coach Simone Conley.
BANYANA BANYANA READY FOR THE WORLD CUP
The 2022 WAFCON champions will be aiming to take their African heroics and superb displays to the World Cup. It will however be hard and a mountain to climb after they fell on a difficult group.
The national team were placed in Group G alongside Argentina, Sweden and Italy.
