Chippa United star provides Augustine Mulenga update
Former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu attacker Augustine Mulenga is on the verge of returning to the DStv Premiership ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Mulenga has spent the past season in his Zambia homeland turning out for NAPSA Stars after his unceremonious exit from AmaZulu FC.
However, as reported by iDiski Times, the Chipolopolo forward is on his way back to the South African topflight.
AUGUSTINE MULENGA UPDATE
A Chippa United player on Wednesday told FARPost that the 33-year-old arrived after their morning training session.
Mulenga has not yet trained with the team but according to the player, but he met his new teammates after the session.
“He came to greet us after our morning training session. We were not aware he was coming to join us until we saw him after our session. It definitely looks like he’ll be joining us. We were obviously excited to see him. His experience will certainly help us in the new season,” the player said.
The talented winger will be looking to prove himself after his painful exit from AmaZulu which came at a time he was nursing an injury.
HE BITTERLY COMPLAINED
He bitterly complained after learning that the Durban outfit would not renew his contract. The Zambian was one of the leading figures in attack under Benni McCarthy at Amazulu. They finished as runners-up in the 2021/22 season.
In his stint with Usuthu and the Buccaneers, he weighed in with 16 goals. He also registered 26 assists in 106 games across all competitions. He featured for the two sides between 2018 and 2022.
The Eastern Cape outfit has reportedly given him a short-term contract. He will have to prove himself under administrator-turned-head coach Morgan Mammila.
Mammila is assembling a team ahead of the new season as he hopes to produce results for the Chilli Boys.
