Mamelodi Sundowns sign Gallants star

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced the signing of Marumo Gallants star Lesiba Nku on a long-term deal.

As reported by FARPost last week, Nku was one of the outstanding players for the relegated Marumo side last season. Masandawana have now moved swiftly for the left-footed player.

The 27-year-old spent three seasons at Polokwane City before his move to Gallants last season.

He featured 32 times for Gallants in all competitions, including the dream run in the CAF Confederation Cup.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS CONFIRM THE SIGNING OF LESIBA NKU

“Mamelodi Sundowns is delighted to announce that Lesiba Nku has signed a long-term contract with the club,” the club announced on Thursday.

Nku is set to join the DStv Premiership champions for their pre-season camp.

Nku is the first player to be unveiled by the Brazilian in the current transfer window period. Stellenbosch midfielder Junior Mendieta is also expected to join the club.

The Argentinian sent a farewell message to the Stellies fans on Wednesday. The 30-year-old has spent three seasons at the club since joining from Atlético Rafaela.

SuperSport United’s young sensation Thapelo Maseko is another player expected to conclude a move to Sundowns. The 19-year-old had an excellent season with Matsatsantsa and was also a nominee for the young player of the Season at the PSL Awards.

According to media reports, Sundowns have also agreed to sign Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro Costa. The 24-year-old is currently on the books of Belgian club SK Beveren. Costa is expected to be part of the pre-season trip to the Netherlands from 17 to 29 July.

Sundowns have already lost Haashim Domingo who has joined Moroccan side Raja Casablanca. The 27-year-old spent three seasons with the club. He won three league titles, one Nedbank Cup, and an MTN 8 trophy.
