Rodney Ramagalela headlines AmaTuks’ mass exodus
Motsepe Foundation Championship side AmaTuks have released 11 players ahead of next season.
This is the club’s biggest exodus in recent times, as the Tshwane club aims to compete for automatic promotion in the next term.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns, Polokwane City, and Black Leopards striker Rodney Ramagalela is the most high-profile departure.
Ramagalela joined the University of Pretoria on a short-term contract from Chippa United where he hardly kicked a ball due to an injury.
The 34-year-old footballer made his debut for Tuks after 18 months of inactivity. AmaTuks head coach Tlisane Motaung previously explained why they didn’t want to rush striker, Ramagalela, into action in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He said they didn’t want to run the risk of losing him possibly for another six months after his injury.
Meanwhile, the club confirmed that Siphamandla Ncanana will be returning to his mother club Richards Bay after his loan stint with Tuks.
THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA OFFICIAL STATEMENT
“We thank the players for their service and commitment and wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” read the club’s statement.
Last season, AmaTuks finished in position eight in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 40 points. This was a disappointing campaign after the side finished the 2021/22 campaign as runners-up and participated in PSL Promotional Playoffs.
Tuks coach Motaung will be hoping that the new campaign will bring fruitful results, as they are in the process to rebuild the team.
AmaTuks are expected to announce their new recruits as the new season looms large.
