Chiefs issue an update on Sifiso Hlanti’s contract situation

PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs have issued an update regarding the contract situation of senior defender Sifiso Hlanti at the club.

Hlanti joined Amakhosi in July 2021 from rivals Swallows FC on a two-year deal with an option for another year.

And with the ex-Bafana Bafana’s contract expiring at the end of last season, Chiefs on Friday, 30 June, 2023, announced their decision on Hlanti. The Soweto giants opted to extend Hlanti’s stay at the club for another year, an indication that the club values him.

S’FISO HLANTI CONTRACT UPDATE

“Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to announce that full-back Sifiso Hlanti has signed a one-year contract extension, with an option for a further year thereafter,” the club said.

“The player, who hails from Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal, came back very strongly after recovering from a potentially career-threatening injury in 2021/22 and was an integral component of Amakhosi’s defensive unit last season.”

KAIZER CHIEFS DELIGHTED TO KEEP EXPERIENCED DEFENDER

The experienced former Bid Vest Wits will have another opportunity to impress under new coach Molefi Ntseki. He featured in 30 matches in all competitions this past season. This is compared to only nine matches that he played in his first season. He faces competition for the left-back position from the likes of Happy Mashiane and Reeve Frosler.

Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has also described the 33-year-old as an important member of the team.

“We are happy that we have agreed on this contract extension with S’fiso. He is an important member of the team, given his experience and ability. We look forward to his continued hard work and sharing of his knowledge with the young players we have in the team,” said Motaung Jr.

Amakhosi are yet to officially unveil their new signings for the upcoming season.
