Orlando Pirates midfielder spotted at Baroka

A Orlando Pirates midfielder has been spotted training with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC as the club prepares for the new season.

Baroka just completed the first leg of their pre-season held in Phalaborwa Town, Limpopo.

They held two friendly matches against two local clubs with a few new faces. 26-year-old Mofokeng was also one of the new faces.

The midfielder, Tshepo Mofokeng spent the past season at All Stars who have now been bought by Black Leopards.

He featured 18 times in all competitions. Before that Mofokeng had been on loan to Sekhukhune United and was part of the squad that gained promotion to the DStv Premiership.

This publication has gathered that Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele were assessing Mofokeng and other players with the hope of boosting their squad. Baroka are yet to officially confirm any player signing ahead of the 2023/24 season.

This is despite losing long-serving captain Oscarine Masuluke who has since joined Stellenbosch.

MORE PLAYERS HEADING BAKGAGA WAY?

Another player that is rumoured to be making his way back to the club is Bennet Bobete. The 22-year-old spent the first round of last season at Marumo Gallants. But his stay was cut short following a fallout with the club. Bobete was pictured playing for Baroka at the same pre-season matches in Limpopo.

The club recently added a new member to their technical team ahead of the 2023/23 season. Former Mpheni Home Defenders assistant coach Amukelani Hlungwani was appointed assistant to Stanford Nkoane.

The club has also roped in goalkeeper Putco Khoza from Hungry Lions as Masuluke’s replacement. But they are yet to formally unveil the player.
