Sundowns star close to sealing Marumo Gallants move
Limpopo-based outfit Marumo Gallants are on the verge of signing a highly-rated Denver Sundowns midfielder.
Gallants who suffered relegation last season are looking to revamp their squad ahead of the new campaign.
They have already lost a number of their key players from last season and are looking to bolster their squad.
Ranga Chivaviro has joined Kaizer Chiefs while Lesiba Nku is now with Mamelodi Sundowns. Lucky Mohomi is with Richards Bay while Celimpilo Ngema linked up with AmaZulu as Washington Arubi moved to Sekhukhune United.
DENVER SUNDOWNS STAR ON THE VERGE OF MOVING
In an effort to rebuild their squad, the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists have turned towards the neighbouring Eswatini.
Their target is national team player Siphamandla Maseko who has been a vital cog for the Eswatini Premier League side.
Maseko joined Denver five years ago from Green Mambas’ development side.
Denver Sundowns are no strangers to producing international players with former player and Richards Bay’s new signing Justice Figareido a product of the team’s academy.
He made the move to South Africa in 2017 when joining Maritzburg United from Denver.
Maseko is a gifted central midfielder who plays as an eight or number 10. His strong attributes include neat passing and he has a knack for scoring beautiful goals.
According to a source close to the transfer, Maseko recently completed a week-long trial with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.
MADE A GOOD IMPRESSION
The crafty midfielder is said to have won the hearts of the Limpopo-based side and will be leaving Eswatini to finalise the deal. Maseko travelled with two other Denver Sundowns players and managed to make a good impression on the club.
He has also attracted interest from Pretoria-based side Supersport United but Marrumo are favourites to win his signature.
“I can confirm that Maseko will be plying his trade in the South African second tier. He is a very good player who really impressed during the trials and the team is looking to do everything to acquire the services of the Eswatini player. It’s just a matter of tying up the loose ends on the deal but I am certain that he is really wanted and he will be travelling back to Limpopo to seal the move,” said the source.
Denver Sundowns Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elvis Dube could not be reached for comments when this report was compiled.
