SuperSport United make decision on Thulani Hlatshwayo’s future
SuperSport United have made a decision on the future of the defender Thulani Hlatshwayo following the end of his contract.
The veteran centre-back saw his contract expire on Friday, 30 June.
When he joined Matsatsantsa at the beginning of the previous season from Orlando Pirates, he had penned a one-year deal and an option to extend for another year.
According to his representative Mike Ntombela, SuperSport have exercised the option. The former Bafana Bafana captain will remain in Pretoria for another year with his contract set to run out at the end of the upcoming season.

“SuperSport have taken the option of the other year, so he’s still there, he has already started training with them,” Ntombela told FARPost.
It seems like the Swanky Boys coach Gavin Hunt was impressed by Hlatshwayo’s showings last season with the defender bouncing back after a turbulent stint with the Buccaneers.
The former Bidvest Wits skipper accumulated 24 appearances and rattled the back of the net once across all competitions for the Tshwane side last season.
Another SuperSport player who saw his contract expire at the end of the last campaign was the goalkeeper Boalefa Pule. The club’s CEO Stanley Matthews said they were still going to sit down with the shotstopper to discuss the way forward.
It is still unclear whether the 33-year-old will continue at the club.
SUPERSPORT’S DEPARTURES SO FAR
Hunt’s side has already lost Patrick Maswangwayi and Jammie Webber who joined Ezimnyama Ngenkani and Sekhukhune United respectively on a free transfer. This was after their contracts also came to an end at the end of the previous season.
The club has also let go of Zukile Kewuti whose brief stay also ended on 30 June. The midfielder had joined the club as a free agent in January this year.
Meanwhile, Zakhele Lepasa, who spent the previous six months with SuperSport has also departed following the end of his brief loan spell.
