Chiefs issue update on Billiat’s contract matter

Kaizer Chiefs have issued a statement on an ongoing Khama Billiat contract matter.

Billiat’s contract with Amakhosi expired at the end of the last month. With the new 2023/24 PSL season looming large, the Soweto giants revealed that they offered the Zimbabwean international a new deal but he hasn’t responded to the offer.

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns man is said to have not reported to camp since the expiry of his contract.

The club went on to reveal that Billiat was last seen at the club’s Village on 29 June 2023. However, he has not answered any of the calls made by the club.

KAIZER CHIEFS OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON KHAMA BILLIAT

“Khama Billiat following the expiry of attacking midfielder Khama Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs contract on 30 June 2023, the Club tabled a new offer for the Zimbabwean marksman to remain with Amakhosi,” read the statement.

“However, to date, the player has not responded to the offer or any attempts to contact him.

“Billiat was last seen at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on 29 June and has not answered any of the calls made or messages sent to him by the Club.

“The team is currently in camp with all the players, yet Billiat, who is also expected to be there with his teammates, failed to show up and is currently nowhere to be found.”

Last season, the talented attacker struggled to get playing time. He spent more of his time on the sidelines due to injury issues.

Overall, Billiat has featured in 126 games across all competitions for Chiefs. He managed to score 24 goals and weighed in with assisted 29 in the process.

However, the Glamour Boys are still willing to work with the player under the tutelage of Molefi Ntseki. The former Bafana Bafana mentor was recently appointed as Chiefs’ new head coach.

In his football career so far, Billiat also turned out for Aces Youth SA, CAPS United and Ajax Cape Town.
