“The level is certainly high and I’m excited about the challenge. I’m inspired by what my countryman Mbwana Samatta has achieved.

“Following his career, I’ve no doubt it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, patience and resilience to achieve things in football.

“It’s certainly not easy to leave home and go far away to pursue my dream and I’m ready to pay the price.

This includes the Community Shield, Azam Federation Cup and the NBC Premier League title.

And it is this experience that shaped Athuman’s champion mentality and character.

At Young Africans SC, he also got an oppurtunity play in the CAF Champions League and Confederations cup.

They reached the finals during the most recent campaign where they lost to USM Alger on the away goals rule over two legs.
