Brooks on his pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign

AmaZulu FC midfielder Ethan Brooks has opened up on his pre-season preparations ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign.

Brooks made a switch to Usuthu from TS Galaxy ahead of the 2022/23 season and immediately earned a place in the starting line-up upon his arrival.

The 21-year-old became a regular starter at the KZN side, all-in-all he played 26 matches in all competitions.

The only lacking thing was goal involvement. The attacking midfielder only found the back of the net once and provided one assist.

ETHAN BROOKS ON HOW THE PRE-SEASON HAS BEEN GOING

According to the Bafana Bafana international, he’s happy because he started the pre-season 100 per cent fit with no injury concerns.

“I have been pushing myself in terms of things that I have to work on. There are things I want to tweak here and there.

“Last season, I joined the team. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to play as many games as I would have liked to because of my knee.

“I am happy with the way I played in the last six games of the season, getting the Man of the Match award against Mamelodi Sundowns and scoring my first goal.”

Brooks together with the rest of his teammates will be aiming to have a better and improved season under the new Spanish coach Pablo Franco Martin.

Last season, AmaZulu finished 12th, missing out on the MTN8. Their progress was disturbed by coaching changes. They started with Brandon Truter who was replaced by Romain Folz. Folz was later replaced by former player Ayanda Dlamini.
