How Shaun Bartlett intends to stamp authority in the DStv Prem
Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett has revealed how he intends to stamp his authority in the DStv Premiership next season.
Bartlett’s mandate ahead of the new campaign, which starts in a few weeks is to survive the drop.
Therefore, the Capetonians will try to replicate their outstanding performances in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.
Spurs are now in pre-season camp and already planning for the next season. Bartlett anticipates that it’s going to be a very difficult one.
SHAUN BARTLETT SAYS THEY SHOULD GRIND RESULTS WHEN PLAYING AT HOME
According to the former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana striker, they have to make Athlone Stadium their fortress where they will get more maximum points.
“Home form will again be important for us. We need to get the necessary points to secure our status for the DStv Premiership,” said Bartlett.
“For us, it’s important to stabilize in the first season. We all know the hard work starts now. For myself, the technical team and the players that we will be bringing in along with the core players that we kept from last season.”
BOLSTERING THE SQUAD FOR NEXT SEASON
After securing promotion to the South African topflight, the 50-year-old confirmed that they will be retaining a majority of their squad.
The Urban Warriors have kept their promise by extending the contracts of 10 players. Michael Morton, Nazeer Allie, Logan Brown, Zama Dlamini, Leo Thethani, Morne Nel, Therlo Moosa, Lubeni Haukongo, Colin Ryan and Jarrod Moroole.
To add, the Cape Town outfit brought in a few faces. They secured the services of Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Luvuyo Phewa and Siyanda Msani on a season-long loan. More signings are expected as preparations for the new season continue.
