Thabo Cele opens up on his ambitions
Radomiak Radom midfielder Thabo Cele has opened up on his ambitions as he relishes the opportunity to play at the COSAFA Cup in Durban.
The Poland-based midfield ace says his biggest ambition is making the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming AFCON.
The next edition of the continental showpiece will be staged in Ivory Coast. Hugo Broos’ troops have already booked their ticket.
Cele, who’s been overlooked by Broos for quite some time, has set his sights on making the final cut when the team is picked.
He’s currently part of the Bafana team that’s playing COSAFA Cup in Durban. He was the man of the match in their first match against Namibia on Wednesday.
Cele has also pinned his hope of impressing Broos on the tournament that he’s currently playing now.

“Not only me, all the guys I feel like we have that same ambition,” he told the media.
“But obviously, we’re thinking about now. We have to do things now.
“And hopefully, the man who picks the team will take the decision which you’d have to respect if it works for you or not.”
When asked if he has communicated with the Bafana gaffer, Cele responded:
“I haven’t had [interactions with coach Hugo Broos] so far. Hopefully soon.”
Cele has been in Europe for almost seven years. He left SA in 2016 to sign for the Portuguese side Estádio do Clube Desportivo Real Sport Clube.
In 2017, he then joined Benfica B but was loaned back to Estádio do Clube Desportivo Real Sport Clube in the following year.
In 2018, he signed for Cova Piedade on a free transfer from Benfica B. And 2021, he was heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs but he eventually signed for the Polish outfit Radiomak Radom.
The KZN Academy graduate is one of the crucial members of the Radiomak’s squad. He has, at times, struggled with injuries. But he has made 30 appearances since joining in 2021.
