Marumo Gallants cut ties with veteran defender
Marumo Gallants have cut ties with their veteran defender ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.
Bahlabane ba Ntwa have reached an amicable agreement to part ways with its captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane, as the side will be competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Nonyane’s extensive experience of the beautiful game helped Marumo reach the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup, despite their relegation from the DStv Premiership.
The experienced centre-back joined Marumo in the 2020/21 season from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzibandila [TTM].
The 37-year-old footballer also represented the likes of United FC, Jomo Cosmos, Black Aces, Golden Arrows, and Bidvest Wits.

“Marumo Gallants FC parted ways with the former captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane following an amicable settlement agreement,” reads the statement.
“The 37-year-old center-back has been with the club since acquiring the status from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzibandila FC [TTM] during the 2020/21 season.”
Meanwhile, the club’s management added that: “Would like to thank Nonyane for his positive contribution and leadership as the captain.
“We wish him all the best with his future endeavors.”
OTHER PLAYERS WHO HAVE LEFT MARUMO GALLANTS
Nonyane is not the only player who parted ways with the club following their relegation. The side also let go of Ranga Chivaviro [Kaizer Chiefs], Katlego Otladisa [Orlando Pirates], Ismael Toure [Stellenbosch] and Lesiba Nku [Mamelodi Sundowns].
To add to that, Marumo also released; Abram Ngcobo, Ayanda Nkili, Judas Moseamedi, Lebogang Mabotja, Maboke Matlakala, Mahlatse Makudubela, Mpho Mvelase, Joseph Molangoane, Pule Maraisane, Sibusiso Sibeko, Sibusiso Kumalo, Sizwe Mdlinzo, Sven Yidah, to mention a few.
With that being said, Marumo remain optimistic about the future, as they aim to achieve their ultimate goal of returning to the SA top flight come the end of 2023/24 campaign.
The Limpopo club will announce their new signings once discussions and negotiations have concluded.
