AmaTuks sign lethal striker from Dondol
AmaTuks have completed the signing of lethal striker Tebogo Makungo from Gauteng ABC Motsepe League side Dondol Stars.
Makungo joins the Motsepe Foundation Championship side on a free transfer.
Last season, the striker managed to find the back of the net on 20 occasions in the SA third tier league.
DONDOL STARS OFFICIAL STATEMENT
“We are proudly delighted to confirm that our top goal scorer Tebogo Makungo also known as ‘Figo’ has become AmaTuks latest signing,” read the club’s statement.
“From all of us at Dondol Stars:Thank you Figo for breaking the club’s goal scoring record in our previous season.
“Thank you for serving Chabarefete badge with such great honour and integrity. We wish you all the best in your new chapter with AmaTuks. One Love”
Makungo is the second player from Chabarefete to join a PSL club this week. Yesterday, the club confirmed that Sekhukhune United completed the acquisition of midfielder Thabang Mnyembane.
The duo were key players to Dondol’s success last season, having helped the side reach the quarterfinals of the 2023 Nedbank Cup tournament.
They also guided the team to be crowned the Gauteng Motsepe League champions. Dondol subsequently qualified for the third-tier national playoffs.
Unfortunately, the side’s in-form reached a premature ending in the national playoffs as they were eliminated in the group stage.
However, Makungo is one player who will add value to the Tuks team ahead of the upcoming season. This comes after the team has parted ways with 11 players ahead of next season.
The 11 players who have left AmaTuks are Kyle Peters, Blessing Mabasa, Khomotso Masia, Masixole Nkwana, Sibongakonke Gwaba, Vuyolwethu Dinge, Nhlanhla Zwane, Tristan Nikitaridis, Lungelo Nguse, Rodney Ramagalela and Siphamandla Ncanana.
As the new season looms large, the University of Pretoria will be hoping to achieve its ultimate goal of gaining automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.
