Kaizer Chiefs coach relishing Yanga, Rollers pre-season friendlies

Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki is relishing the upcoming friendly matches against Tanzania’s Young Africans and Botswana’s Township Rollers.

Chiefs start their African Tour with a potentially explosive encounter against Yanga. The two teams are scheduled to meet on July 22 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. This will be part of their pre-season preparations. The game is scheduled to kick off at 19:00.

KAIZER CHIEFS COACH ON INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES

Ntseki said that he is expecting a tough test against Yanga, one of the most successful clubs in Tanzania.

Yanga have won six trophies in the last two seasons, thwarting the dominance of bitter rivals Simba SC.

They will be eager to test their mettle against the South African giants ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Ntseki said that the friendly matches will be a good opportunity for Kaizer Chiefs to test themselves against quality opponents. Exactly a week after the Yanga tie, Chiefs visit Township Rollers in Gaborone.

“These two matches against excellent teams will give me a chance to have a good look at our players and gauge the team in a proper match situation and assess where we are in our preparations for the new season,” Ntseki told the Chiefs website.

EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING UP

Chiefs are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022-23 season. Under Coach Arthur Zwane, they finished seventh in the South African Premier Soccer League.

Ntseki will be out to ensure his team can challenge for trophies in the upcoming season.

“Excitement is already building in Tanzania and Botswana as football fans await the arrival of the Mighty Amakhosi – one of Africa’s most famous Clubs, with an almost mythical status on the continent – with eager anticipation,” wrote Chiefs on their website.

Chiefs fans, who have access via digital platforms, will get a glimpse of their new signings in action.

Amakhosi have signed Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Castillo, Ranga Chivaviro, Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane and Given Msimango.
