Maritzburg United fans protest against club official
Frustrated Maritzburg United fans staged a protest against one of the club officials at the United’s headquarters in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.
This is after the relegation of the Team of Choice from the DStv Premiership to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The group of fans that marched to the club’s offices demanded that the chief operations officer [COO] Quinton Jetto leaves the club. They expressed their displeasure with how he has been performing the duties of his role.
They are not happy with various things including the signing of players. And they claim he’s brought “useless” players, which eventually led to their relegation from the top-flight
MARITZBURG UNITED PROTEST AGAINST CLUB’S OFFICIAL
“He hasn’t done anything for us since he arrived at the club,” said one of the Maritzburg United fans who preferred that his name isn’t revealed.
“We’re always in the relegation zone, actually we want him gone. We were at the offices but the chairman was not there. Quinton was there and we told him that we no longer want him at the club.”
He went on to state that they won’t allow the club to play the KZN Premier’s Cup if Jetto is still part of them.
The Premier’s Cup will take place next week between 22 and 23 July in Durban. Maritzburg have been drawn against Milford FC in the quarter-final.
“And these games [KZN Premier’s Cup], they [Maritzburg United] will not play if he’s still part of the club,” he continued.
This publication then got hold of Jetto later on the day who admitted there were fans at their headquarters, demanding his departure and more changes in the structure of the club.
However, he said there wasn’t much he could say.
QUINTON JETTO’S REACTION TO PROTEST
“I don’t have comments about fans,” he said. “Is it really worth a story? There was about 15 people singing outside.
“Basically, they want changes, they want me to go, they want people to go. So I don’t have a comment. I don’t know what comment to give you.”
