Dondol Stars player completes DStv Premiership switch
Following their exploits in the 2022/23 Nedbank Cup, another Dondol Stars player has secured a move to the DStv Premiership.
Polokwane City have completed the signing of Francious Baloyi from the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League side.
The defender joins the newly promoted DStv Premiership outfit on a long-term deal ahead of the upcoming season.
Baloyi, who is also known as ‘The Public Protector’ was one of the longest-serving players for the amateur side Dondol.
‘Chabarefete’, as they are popularly known confirmed the news on Saturday, 15 July 2023.
Baloyi is one player who will be expected to add much-needed value to City’s squad when the new campaign roars to life.
DONDOL STARS CONFIRM FRANCIOUS BALOYI’S DEPARTURE
“We are proudly delighted to announce that one of our longest-serving players Francious Baloyi also known as ‘The Public Protector’ has become Polokwane City FC’s latest signing,” said the club.
“From all of us at Dondol Stars: Thank you Mboi for all the incredible years we had with you. It was simply amazing. Thank you for serving the Chabarefete badge with such great honour and integrity.
“We wish you all the best in your new chapter with Polokwane City football club. One Love.”
Baloyi is the third player from Chabarefete to join a PSL club this week. The club confirmed that Sekhukhune completed the signing of midfielder Thabang Mnyembane, while striker Tebogo Makungo has joined AmaTuks.
The trio were key players to Dondol’s success last season. The players helped the side reach the quarterfinals of the 2023 Nedbank Cup tournament. To put a cherry on top, they guided the side to win the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League. And they subsequently qualified for the SA third-tier national playoffs.
Meanwhile, another Dondol player Kgotsofalo Mabu is also rumoured to have been signed by City, as the new term looms large.
