Tanzania’s Singida Fountain Gate eyeing Botswana international

Singida Fountain Gate, a Tanzanian Premier League club, has confirmed interest in signing a Botswana international as they look to strengthen their squad.

Singida finished the 2022/23 Tanzania Premier League season in fourth place. They are set to take part in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

The club is going all out in the market to beef up ahead of the new season. Their latest target is a Botswana international Mothusi Cooper who was recently on trials at Cape Town Spurs

SINGIDA FOUNTAIN GATE CONFIRM INTEREST IN COOPER

Singida CEO Olebile Sikwane confirmed the club’s interest in the Zebras midfield dynamo.

“Cooper is an exceptionally gifted player, well known in Africa. He would be a great addition we have discussed him at great length internally.

“When you play CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup you’ve got to be ambitious and make sure you get the best soldiers for the battle.

“Trust me, Cooper would do wonders for Tanzania. He’s one of the few most complete players in Africa at the moment,” Sikwane told FARPost.

Cooper plays as a central midfielder and recently wound up his contract with Botswana giants Gaborone United.

He is currently available as a free agent and recently tried his luck at newly promoted DStv Premiership side Spurs.

Cooper, who has represented the Botswana national team on 22 occasions, is also on the radar of Pretoria Callies.

EXPERIENCE AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL

Cooper would be a significant signing for Singida Fountain Gate. He is a talented midfielder who has experience playing at the highest level in Zambia and Morocco.

It is not yet clear whether Singida Fountain Gate will be able to sign Cooper with interest from South Africa. However, the club are confident that they can convince him to join them.

If Cooper does sign for Singida Fountain Gate, it would be a major coup for the club. He would be a valuable addition to their squad, and he would help them to improve their chances of success in the 2023/24 season.
