AmaZulu FC assistant opens up on working under Pablo Franco Martin
AmaZulu FC assistant coach Siboniso Vilakazi has opened up on what he has picked from working with the newly appointed coach Pablo Franco Martin.
The Spanish tactician was tasked with the role to stir Usuthu’s vessel after the club sacked Ayanda Dlamini who was the interim coach after the previous head coach Romain Folz was redeployed to the Technical Advisor.
Vilakazi also secured promotion to the first team as he was previously mentoring the DStv Diski Challenge side.
Speaking to the media during the KZN Premier’s Cup Launch, Vilakazi said Pablo Franco Martin is a willing-to-listen head coach.
He also stated that he’s currently relying on local coaches when it comes to the potential recruitment of new players since he’s still learning SA football.

“I must say it’s very good and exciting, he’s a coach who knows what he wants,” he told media
“You also look at the way he’s having his training methods. I’m learning each and everyday. The coach opens hands for any suggestions and we sit down and discuss.
“It makes things easier for anyone who works under him. We break down the work we must do and when we go into the training then we know probably that I’ll be dealing with the defenders and maybe he’s dealing with the attackers.
“At the end of the day, we sit down again and give feedback. But the most important thing for me is to learn from him. Having that experience from Real Madrid, it will really help me as an upcoming coach to grow.
“But I don’t want to lie, it’s very good working with him. He’s a very good coach, who’s willing to listen who also understands that he doesn’t know about South Africa and its players but he’ll tell you that ‘I’m relying on you guys as local coaches and players as well.’
“Because even when we’re looking for those players to try and reinforce in the positions, he doesn’t know that much. The most important thing is he’s relying on us.”
