Sekhukhune United win race to sign Sundowns midfielder

Sekhukhune United have won the race to sign a Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Babina Noko have been on a signing spree in the current transfer window as they prepare for what could be their busiest season since gaining promotion to the top flight.

Sekhukhune finished the 2022/23 season on a high after making it to the Nedbank Cup final and qualifying for CAF Confederations Cup.

The Limpopo-based side will participate in the DStv Premiership, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, Carling Black Label Knockout and CAF Confederations Cup.

SEKHUKHUNE SIGN SIPHESIHLE MKHIZE FROM SUNDOWNS

With Sekhukhune aiming to compete in all competitions, this publication can reveal that Brandon Truter’s charges have reached an agreement to sign Siphesihle Mkhize.

Mkhize was on the radar of Chippa United and Cape Town Spurs before being snapped up by Sekhukhune on a permanent move.

The midfielder spent the last two seasons on loan with the Chilli Boys where he established himself as a regular starter.

“Siphesihle Mkhize’s move away from Mamelodi Sundowns was always going to be tricky. He graduated from the club’s development structures so he’s their investment,” his agent Ntobatsi Masegela told FARPost.

“After long conversations with the club regarding Mkhize’s future, we finally came to an agreement to find him a club where he will settle and play regularly.

“So another thing that we needed to look at when choosing a suitable club for the player was the ambitions of the club. The fact that Sekhukhune will be playing in the CAF Confederations Cup was more enticing for Mkhize.

“I mean playing at that level is important looking at the fact that there’s AFCON coming and Mkhize has the dream of playing for Bafana Bafana.”
