Msimango credits four Chiefs players for making him feel at home

New Kaizer Chiefs acquisition Given Msimango has given credit to four top players who have ensured he gets the best time of his life at the club.

Msimango penned a four-year contract with Amakhosi a few weeks ago and has been handed jersey number 25.

The 26-year-old centre-back has been putting in the hard yards with the rest of the Amakhosi squad in Mpumalanga, Nelspruit, where the club held a pre-season training camp.

Msimango said he felt at home the moment he arrived at Naturena. In addition, he has enjoyed bonding with his new teammates at the camp as they prepare for the 2023/24 PSL season.

The highly-rated defender also insisted that it is important for new players to be welcomed warmly in a new environment as this will help them settle in, adapt quicker and deliver the goods in the DStv Premiership.

He said he was warmly welcomed by Chiefs, singling out Itumeleng Khune, Brandon Petersen, Keagan Dolly and Bruce Bvuma for their guidance.

MSIMANGO PLEASED WITH WARM CHIEFS WELCOME

“Being in pre-season with the club has been nothing but fantastic. The guys have welcomed me with open arms,” said Given Msimango.

“The management has been warm to me. And I think that’s important for the player to feel welcomed in a new space, to feel wanted. So that you can perform at your utmost best and settle in very quickly.

“This is a massive club. It’s very important that you adapt as soon as possible so that you can start performing to the best of your abilities.

“The senior players have played a massive role in my induction in the club. They’ve shown me the ropes. Your Itu [Khune], your Keagan, even Brandon [Peterson], Bruce [Bvuma] as well. I consider him as a senior member of the club.

“Just filling you in about the culture of the club. What goes on, how it works, the production. And everything that happens within the club,” added the ex-Galaxy captain.

Msimango is one of the seven new faces at Naturena. Others include fellow centre-back Thatayaone Dithlokwe, striker Ranga Chivaviro, and midfielders Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi and Edson Castillo.

The new signings will be expected to play a big role as Kaizer Chiefs march towards a new era of success. The club looks to find their identity and win silverware to end the eight-year trophy drought.
