Musona pays tribute to Al Tai as he settles at new home

Former Kaizer Chiefs marksman Knowledge Musona has paid tribute to Saudi Pro League side Al Tai as he settles at his new club.

The Zimbabwean Knowledge Musona left Al Tai at the end of June following the expiry of his contract with the club.

Knowledge Musona was quickly snatched by Al Riyadh. The club is bolstering their team after bouncing back to the Saudi Pro League.

The former Amakhosi star spent two seasons at Al Tai, where he was one of the club’s reliable players.

In fact, the 33-year-old earned the Al Tai’s captaincy role, having been one of the most outstanding senior players in the team.

And with less than a month in the Al Riyadh set-up, Musona appears to have earned a similar role. The former Chiefs attacker has been given the armband in Al Riyadh’s friendly matches ahead of the 2023/24 season.

“All Glory to the Almighty. Excited for the new beginnings at @AlRiyadhFC.Thank you to Al Tai, my former teammates and all the fans for the 2 seasons we shared together. Good luck,” Musona posted on Twitter.

For Al Tai, Knowledge Musona played 53 matches, with 14 goals and 17 assists to his name.

The former Kaizer Chiefs marksman is one of the few former PSL players in the Saudi Arabia football ranks. This league has witnessed a huge influx of European stars in recent times.

There have been calls for Musona to reconsider his future with the Zimbabwean national team.

He retired from international football last year after Khama Billiat had retired. And it remains to be seen if Musona comes out of retirement to play for Zimbabwe again.

Zimbabwe is in group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, together with Bafana Bafana. And the group also consists of Nigeria, Rwanda, Lesotho and Benin.
