Former Pirates striker Ndumiso Mabena spotted at a new PSL club

Former Orlando Pirates striker Ndumiso Mabena has been spotted at a new PSL side ahead of the new season, FARPost has learnt.

The veteran forward has been without a club after parting ways with Pirates on 30 June, 2023.

Mabena  rejoined the Buccaneers in December 2022 on a one-and-a-half-season deal, having left the club in 2014 to join the now-defunct Platinum Stars.

Since his return to the ‘Sea Robbers’, the 36-year-old footballer struggled to find game time under the tutelage of Jose Riveiro.

Last season, he only managed to make one appearance for ‘The Happy People’ when they faced Mamelodi Sundowns in a league match.

He also had stints with Winners Park, Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal AM.

Mabena has since resurfaced at the newly promoted side Polokwane City. The player will be hoping to secure a deal and get his mojo back.

So far, Mabena has made 312 appearances in his professional career. He netted 60 goals and further provided 36 assists to his name.

City is one of the clubs that has been busy in the current transfer window period. The Rise and Shine have managed to secure the signatures of Oswin Appollis, Tlou Nkwe, Given Mashikinya, Luciano van Heerden and Francious Baloyi from Pretoria Callies, Sekhukhune United, Baroka FC and Dondol Stars respectively.

Earlier today, this publication also reported that the Limpopo-based outfit are in talks with former Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho. City are hoping to sign Mathoho to bolster their defence given his extensive experience of the beautiful game.

In addition, another Dondol player Kgotsofalo Mabu is also rumoured to have been signed by City.

As the new term looms large, City cut ties with players such as Mpho Makola and Joseph Mhlongo.
