Thamsanqa Gabuza linked with move to PSL club

Former Orlando Pirates forward Thamsanqa Gabuza has been spotted training with another PSL club following his departure from SuperSport United.

The veteran forward had been on the periphery of the SuperSport squad this past season under Gavin Hunt and, at one point, even played as a centre-back in their Nedbank Cup exit at the hands of Dondol Stars.

A January move to Stellenbosch FC fell through in the final week of the January transfer window, and in that same window, he was later linked with Royal AM, but that also did not materialise.

Gabuza has been with SuperSport for four seasons, having joined them from the Buccaneers and managed to play 113 games across all competitions and scored 22 goals.

The lanky striker has two MTN8 trophies under his name, one with Matsatsantsa recently in 2019 and one with Lamontville Golden Arrows in 2009, where they beat Ajax Cape Town in that unforgettable final.

This publication has learnt that he has started training with TS Galaxy this week as he sets to revive his career at the Ramovic-led Rockets.

Gabuza teamed up with Pro Sports International in April, which is owned by Mike Makaab, and he confirmed that Ganda-Ganda, in fact, Thamsanqa Gabuza training with the PSL side, is training and trying to secure a contract at Galaxy.

WHAT MAKAAB BELIEVES GABUZA CAN STILL BRING

FARPost spoke to Makaab, and he says that Gabuza is showing no signs of slowing down and thinks that he has still got a lot to offer.

“You know, with Gabuza, you are getting a player with great experience, someone who will bring great character to the dressing room. Whichever team he joins, for sure he will add value; for me, he is very underrated and provides a great presence up front,” said Makaab.

“At SuperSport United, I believe he did really well with the limited amount of minutes he was asked to perform. He can do a job, bring people into the game, and he still chases down defenders at the age of 35.”
