Makudubela on why he snubbed PSL move for Yanga
Newly signed Young Africans SC winger Mahlatse Makudubela has revealed why he snubbed a move to a PSL club, opting for the Tanzania giants.
Makudubela has received a warm welcome in Dar es Salaam, with a lot of expectations on his shoulders.
The skilful attacker had reportedly caught the interest of Moroka Swallows following his exit from Marumo Gallants.
MAKUDUBELA SHARES WHY HE OPTED FOR YANGA
He has since explained why he chose a switch to East Africa when there was an option to continue playing in the DStv Premiership.
“This team is a big team in Africa; this team is playing CAF. It’s a very ambitious team,” Makudubela told FARPost.
“I want to win trophies. Coach Pitso [Mosimane] once said something. If you wanna win cups, ‘you know birds of the same feather flock together’.
“So, you look at this team. The success of this team speaks for itself. I wanted to win cups. When the president [Engineer Hersi Ally Said] called me, I couldn’t say no.”
‘Skudu’ becomes the first player to ply his trade in the Tanzania Premier League. Interestingly, his debut could come against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.
Amakhosi take on Young Africans in an international friendly set for Saturday evening [18h00] at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
The 33-year-old attacker opened up on his conversations with Chivaviro, who was also on Yanga’s radar.

The duo impressed Timu ya Wananchi during the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final.
“We spoke last night with Ranga Chivaviro and a few days ago when he congratulated me. He said he’d see me on Saturday.
“We were saying it’ll be the first time we face each other apart from training. I’m looking forward to being here.
“It’s still early days of pre-season. We [fans] shouldn’t expect too much. You know, games like this always call for your top performance.”
